Starting from a new one from Schlachofbronx (which I can’t stop listening to) we travel BACKWARDS IN TIME to take a look at the ingredients that have informed the development of Tropical Bass/Global Ghettotech/Cultural Smorgasbord Super Music. Africa Everywhere

Got the goods from the show last night. Starting with some drifting soundscapes, we take some new hip hop from Africa as a jumping off point to see the continant’s influence take form in all sorts of places. Spoek Mathambo offers a super futuristic take on classic afrofunk, and the Hackney Empire’s lond awaited full length showcases the roots of the London crew.
